    Early Childhood

Fundamental skills and whole child development.

At YWIES, our students are immersed in a supportive, bilingual learning environment where our teachers work together with parents to develop confident, caring and curious young learners. The focus in these early years is on whole-child development, and building of character and personal and social values that will benefit students for life.

At YWIES Beijing, we provide a bilingual, early childhood educational setting in Chinese and English for children aged two to six that focuses on the development of the whole child as an individual and a learner. The environment is respectful and nurturing in order to encourage exploration and discovery. Teachers act as enablers for children to actively participate in and design their own learning processes in this space.

    • Co-Teaching Approach

YWIES Beijing provides an environment that enables children to interact naturally with each other and with teachers, and feel increasingly comfortable about their identity, language and culture. The Chinese and Western Co-teachers collaborate to meet every child's social, emotional and educational needs. The programme is designed to equip every child with the confidence to embrace future challenges in school and later in society.

    • Emergent Programme

This programme provides every child with opportunities to grow a positive self-identity while teachers ensure each child's individual developmental needs are met. All areas of learning are integrated as the children, guided by their teachers, develop physical, personal, social and emotional capabilities as well as communication skills. Within this emergent model, the children begin to acquire an understanding of and skills in mathematics and creativity, English and Chinese literacy, and knowledge of the world’s beauty and cultural diversity around them.

    • Partnership with Parents

It is critical to the children's development and success that parents also actively participate in their learning. Our newsletters, regular reports of the child's ongoing learning journey and formal parental meetings are specifically designed to support this aim.
