Yew Chung International Schools and Yew Wah International Education Schools successfully held the Seeds of Hope Charity Concert at YWIES Tongxiang on March 9, 2019. More than 200 YCIS and YWIES students and teachers from our 12 campuses, including Tongxiang, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Yantai, Qingdao, Chongqing and Silicon Valley, US, gathered together at the auditorium of YWIES Tongxiang to participate in this annual musical event.
Seeds of Hope charity project commenced officially in 2011 by Yew Chung and Yew Wah. In recognition of the school motto “to align with love and charity”, Seeds of Hope project, as a core part of the Character Education, aims to provide assistance to underprivileged areas by building schools for students in those areas. As Dr Betty Chan Po-king said, “The gift that we hope to give our children is not something in physical form, but is something intangible: faith, hope and love.”
The opening performance led by Years 3, 5, 7 and 8 of YWIES Beijing marked the beginning of the concert with a huge round of applause. Through the performance, students demonstrated their passion towards their homeland and their determination to build a better future for their country.
Before the start of the concert, charity booths were set up around the school campus for fund-raising. There were areas of students’ performance, as well as bazaar that sold all kinds of goods.
To support this year’s concert, ECE Section of YWIES Beijing participated in the fund-raising charity bazaar where kids donated their storybooks and toys and teachers co-ordinated the selling procedures.
